Make sure you get out and support literacy and your local store. Post what ever your story had happening and what happened when you got there, here. I will be taking pictures at my store and posting my sketches I will hopefully getting.

My local shop owner moved his shop to Maine. He still gets me my books but it sucks not having a shop to go to. I can go to one of the big ones in Manhattan. Midtown Comics isn't far but the store has such a corporate feel to it. I'll check it out and see how it is on Saturday.

What usually goes on during FCBD besides the free comics?

I'm planning on heading over to MD. Jo Chen is going to be there. There is also going to be a ton of other things happening according to the store owner.

Might try and check it out if the wife lets me and I have the time. My comic book store is doing all their stuff till 5 but if I can get in and get my sketches then I would love to hit another store with even more people to get sketches from.

You would think that living in NYC where the big 2 have their HQ that the big shops would do something big for FCBD. One store is going to have Joe Stanton so I might go there. The other big store (Midtown Comics) hasn't announced anything.

As stated earlier, I'm doing a convention in Houston this weekend, getting out to meet the unwashed masses. Cool thing is with this being FCBD and the opening weekend of Wolverine, is that this is at a mall, so we'll be getting not just convention goers, but regular mall traffic, so I'll be promoting the comic book industry to everyone who walks by my table.

Oh, and I shaved down to some Wolverine muttonchops, just to scare the locals. Razz

So I get to the comic book store and my stores owner tells me Free comics around the side and Franco is here with no line... Get to Franco, one person ahead of me then I get this....

Walk outside with the wife and kids. The girls are tired, so they leave with mom, I keep the boy and go back in. Get in line for Neil Vokes and get this awesome Classic Style looking Punisher....

Then the boy gets antsy, the wife returns, snag some pics of the boy with Darth Vader, Imperial Pilot, Stormtrooper, and the one and only Spidey. Then get these two from Rich Faber and Jamar Nichols, respectfully.

Rich kept apologizing since he really didn't know what to do with him but I think it came out pretty decent. Looks like Frank just got kicked in the balls. LOL... Great day and my boy had a blast.

IM - sounds like you and the family had a good day.

The "big" shop in my area gave out all the free books pretty quickly. I got there in time to snag just 4, Blackest Night, Avengers, Aliens, and Vampirella. No signings!
