For the first topic in the Marvel Comics board I want to discuss the WORST character in Marvel history.

I say the Punisher. Discuss.

Just yanking your chain, but I never have liked the character. I'm not a big fan of crime based comics. Too much fighting street level thugs and Colombian drug lords. Give me an old fashioned super powered throwdown any day of the week.

Yep. If I want something that could possibly happen in real life I'll watch CSI. Or the news. When I read whether it's books or comic books I want pure escapism. I get enough reality slapped in my face on a daily basis to seek it out in other outlets.

boo. It is escapism. If anything like that happened to my wife and/or kids I wish I had the balls to do what Frank did.

Damn, you make this hard. If the question was worst in DC or all of comics then it would be easy, Green Lantern. Followed closely by the Flash.

I love Green Lantern, Hal Jordan that is. Can't stand John Stewart. Now on to the topic on hand, I have to say I am really enjoying the new Punisher book but I fear for it when Tan Hug Huat (sp) takes over on art. I can't stand his art.

For worst Marvel character thou, I have to go with TypeFace from Paul Jenkins Spider-Man run. Seriously what the hell was he and the editors thinking on that one

The Punisher is hit or miss. I love the 1st volume of War Journal and the mini series. The Punisher as a "character", I really like and hes been in my top ten since I started reading comics a mere 18 years ago. I sill have his Marvel U. series 1 card too

Am I too forgiving that I can't answer this? All the ones I come up with (Phantazia, Thornn, X-Cutioner, Hazard, Squirrel Girl) I realize that I like them and want to use them at some point. Every character is one run away from being awesome, like Legacy (who became Captain Marvel under Peter David) and She-Hulk. Both great characters after they got some love.

My goal is to make X-Treme and Maggott big league favorites.

What ever happen to X-Treme? Wasn't he supposed to be the other Summers brother? I know they made Vulcan that.

Okay, sorry for the tangent. I agree with Digsy, though. I think most of the characters can be redeemed by a creative writer.

he does suck a lot goldbricker but he isn't the worst. I do agree that anybody can be good character when done right but even with a great story you still this they are a joke. like jamie madrox is a shitty character anyway you slice it. there have been some great stories with him but in the end he sucks.
